The book was about a girl who lived during the Civil War and her family owned slaves. She was a Rebel, she believed that they should get to live how they want. Then General Grant orders all Jews to leave and she has to be taken with her family by the Union soldiers, and she /5(16). It is a good picture of trench warfare and shows how the fighting went.
